Purple Blade gorgonian

Photosynthetic Purple Blade Gorgonian is one of the easiest gorgonians to keep and grow, due to photosynthesis and resistance to fouling organisms, such as algae.
This gorgonian requires good reef lighting of moderate to high intensity, although the Purple Blade Gorgonian does not require feeding, food consumption can accelerate growth. The basal foot can grow in a matter of weeks under ideal seawater conditions.
Sloughing of slime material is common with this gorgonian type, which helps the animal remove algae growth on the blade surfaces and expel fecal waste.
6-7" multi-blade colony grown from fragment, established self adhered base.

Dragon's Tongue Macro Algae is a live salt water ornamental algae great for a refugium marine aquarium and nice enough and non invasive to be included in a reef tank full of live coral. Tolerates a wide range of light intensities and spectrums, but utilizes blue light best.
Good hitching posts for seahorses, grows tall, very bushy under high light, Dragon's Tongue is deep red to purplish-red. The stipe of this macro algae is flat and elongated, with a fantastic array of fiery flame licks.
Grows swiftly, but does not gain a hold-fast easily; may need to be trained with anchors, such as rock or ceramic weights. Many times this algae can be set in between rocks with no anchor at all in a quiet aquarium with few or no wandering animals. Around 8-12 inches this algae becomes too top heavy and may need rock to support being up right, or a continual laminar flow, like near the output of the filter system, gives it a wonderful drape over the front or top of the aquarium.
Dragon's Tongue Macro Algae is easily consumed by herbivorous animals, which in turn is highly nutritious for these creatures.

Cabbage Leather coral, very easy to care for, beginner coral. Tan, cream to pinkish soft coral. Colors vary on light conditions. One of the most tolerant corals to nutrient rich waters, generally noxious to eat for most coral eating fish, survives under foul conditions, and can be one of the surviving corals during a reef tank wipe out.
This coral can take abuse from neighboring corals, crustaceans and boisterous fish, invasive macro algae, hair algae, and cyanobacteria slime coating; by being tough skinned and able to go into dormancy longer than most other corals. Giving the new aquarist more time to correct aquarium conflicts with tank mates, encroaching algae and coral, or water chemistry issues.
Under ideal seawater conditions, the Cabbage Leather is fast to grow and multiply, thriving anywhere on the reef, yet high currents are not favorable and keep this leather from opening. Calm areas with slow to medium flows are preferred and will help this coral flourish.

Hairy Mushrooms are actually colonial anemones, they prefer bright light conditions with moderate currents, enough to bring zooplankton and other small meaty items to there ever hungry mouths. Their stinging cells are used to immobilize and capture prey, and effective at keeping other sessile invertebrates away or at bay.
Bright light and frequent feedings are important to maintain color, increase polyp size and eventually divide. Hairy Mushrooms can split in the middle quite suddenly and destructively, frequently becoming separate colonies of five or more in some cases.
